Construction has begun on the first Wawa stores in Wilmington and Murfreesboro as the company plans to open 90 locations in North Carolina. The first Wilmington shop is set to open in mid-2026, with several more to follow that year. The new stores will bring 400 jobs to Wilmington and require 140 workers in Murfreesboro. Wawa is known for its fresh-made hoagies, hot coffee, and popular "Sizzlis" sandwiches.
